Tim Sylvia vs. Cormier scrapped for Mir vs. Cormier

After all of the campaigning that former UFC heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia has done to try and get back into the octagon, it looks like h might have been given his best shot at doing so. The problem is that that chance is also likely to be his toughest fight in recent memory. Well according to mmajunkie.com Sylvia signed a multi fight contract with Strikeforce to challenge the recent winner of their heavyweight Grand Prix, the undefeated former Olympic wrestler, Daniel Cormier. If Sylvia can defeat Cormier, or even look good in defeat then maybe he has a chance to make it back inside the octagon after the Strikeforce heavyweight division is dissolved, but that’s easier said than done considering that Cormier flat out destroyed Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, and dominated Josh Barnett for the better part of 5 rounds. We will just have to wait and see if Tim Sylvia can take control of his own destiny and do what needs to be done to get himself back into the UFC, first step looking at least competitive against Cormier on September 29, which is no easy task.

Update; I know its old, but this fight was either scrapped, or the sources never heard the exact truth, because instead of this fight what we are actually getting is Daniel Cormier versus Frank Mir. It’s a much more high profile fight, but I also wonder if part of the reason was because Dana White seems to not be on the best terms with Tim Sylvia.
